Principal's Welcome

Birkdale Primary School is a delightful school with a warmth and acceptance of each other, nurtured through our core values. We pride ourselves on being inclusive, recognising the diversity, uniqueness and talents of our multicultural children who quickly find their place thriving within our amazing learning environment.

Our staff are talented, effective professionals committed to attaining the best outcomes for all students.

Our community is extremely supportive of our school and our door is always open.

Our Board of Trustees remains committed to ensuring that every child receives the best opportunities as it realises its vision: ‘To empower positive, creative kaitiaki (guardians) of the future’

Together we all strive to provide the highest social, emotional, physical and academic outcomes for every child to grow into confident, connected young people.

I invite you to visit anytime for a personal tour to see what Birkdale Primary School can offer your child. We are very proud of our school and all it has to offer and we can’t wait to know you.

Our Learning

English Immersion

Together we are united:

Birkdale Primary is one amazing school. We offer two education pathways, Auraki (English immersion) and Rumaki (Māori immersion: Te Puāwaitanga). Although our curriculums may be different we share many special times such as cultural events, Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC), our Year 6 camp, assemblies, sporting events, community events, ANZAC ceremonies and many more. We celebrate our diversity and respect each other’s cultures. We needs base teach and therefore whether in a single year level class or in a composite class, every child is taught to their own level. We differentiate curriculum and plan for all needs. Our extra special and very important InnerFit programme helps our children to build strength of character as sometimes life becomes a bit tricky to navigate. This dove-tails with our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) programme where we all aspire to be Safe Respectful Positive Learners. We call this our SEL i.e. Social Emotional Learning which underpins everything we do in our school.

We have an open door for our parents, caregivers and whānau so please take the moment if you can and pop in.

Across the school we celebrate success, acknowledge courage and strive for our students to be fine citizens of the future.
